Clyde C. Stutts, 79, of Randleman died Wednesday, January 27. The family will receive friends Sunday from six o'clock p.m. until eight o'clock p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Ronald Coleman at eleven o'clock a.m. Monday, February 1 at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Star Town Cemetery in Star, North Carolina.
Mr. Stutts was a native of Montgomery County and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a graduate of High Point College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was for many years a classroom teacher in the public schools of Randolph and Guilford Counties and was also an instructor at Davidson County Community College. He served as principal at Coleridge School and at Archdale Elementary School. Mr. Stutts was one of the first elected members of the Randolph County Board of Education and was a founding member of the Bush Hill Masonic Lodge. After his retirement, he established an adult reading and literacy program at Randolph County Community College.
Mr. Stutts is survived by his children, Gina S. McMillan of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Jeffrey Stutts and Barry Stutts of Asheboro; and Della S. Swider of Kernersville; step-children, Lisa Ingram and Chris Gallimore; seven grandchildren; and his sister Mary Fulchum of Asheboro.
