Clyde Hampton "Cotton" Brown, age 82, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Brown was born in Moore County, NC on February 12, 1935 to Thomas and Emma Williams Brown. Cotton served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired, after 30 years of service, as a Rural Carrier with the Asheboro Post Office and was formerly employed as a Realtor with Vernon and Billie Wilson in Asheboro. Cotton loved the Lord and was a member of Cedar Falls United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School. In addition to his parents, Cotton was preceded in death by an infant son and 12 siblings. Cotton was very active and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. He liked telling stories and jokes and enjoyed traveling to see his family.
He is survived by his wife, Delia Hare Brown; daughters, Lisa Ann Brown Gardner and husband Cal of Richmond, VA and Lori Leigh Brown and husband James Zisa of Carolina Beach; and brother, Charles W. Brown and wife Sue of Greensboro.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Falls United Methodist Church, 1119 Loflin Pond Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
