Clifton Brown, age 92, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009. In celebration we remember Clifton's unique and beautiful spirit. In our laughter and smiles, he is with us always.JR Clifton Brown, a loving husband and father, was committed to his family and his community.Clifton, son of John and Elma Brown, was part of the forth generation of Browns to be born in Randolph County. He grew up and lived most of his life in Asheboro, N.C. Clifton attended N.C. State University and Kings Business College. He served his country as captain and financial officer of the eastern coast for the Air Force during WWII. He went on to a successful career as Executive Vice President of Randolph Savings and Loan. Dedicated to the Central United Methodist Church, he devoted a lifetime of service to the church. He was an avid reader, and life long student of the state of the world.Clifton's kindness, sense of humor, and commitment to family was evident in all that he did. His life was a testament to his Christian faith. We will miss him greatly.Clifton is survived by his wife, Eula Brown of Charlotte, N.C. His loving descendants include three children, Annie Venner and her husband Tom of Cincinnati, OH, Susan Cosand and her husband Norm of Indianapolis, IN, David Brown of Huntersville, NC, four grandchildren, Brian Tolleson, Amanda Tolleson, Jonathan Dry, David Dry, and two great-grandchildren, Colby Dry, Ella Grace Tolleson, his sister, Helen Philips of Asheboro, N.C. and brother, Howard Brown of Lombard, IL.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Key officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
