Clifford Alan VanVliet, Sr., age 79, of 400 Vision Dr., Asheboro died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, 2235 Spero Road, Randleman with Rev. Tommy Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mr. VanVliet was born in Poughskeepsie, NY on January 30, 1930 to Thomas A. VanVliet and Lillian Wesley VanVliet. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his sons, Clifford A. VanVliet, Jr. and his wife Terry of Asheboro, NC, Daniel VanVliet and his wife Chris of Ft. Washington, Maryland, and Robert VanVliet and his wife Heidi of York Spring, Pennsylvania; daughter, Cheryl VanVliet of Rockville, Maryland; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert VanVliet and his wife Lucille of Pinehurst, NC. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 10:00-11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church, Razndleman, NC.
