Cliff Allen Cremeans

Cliff Allen Cremeans, 76, passed unexpectantly on December 13, 2012 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro, NC. Born November 24, 1936 in Midkiff, WV to James Clarke Cremeans and Pauline Scites. Cliff graduated valedictorian from Guyan Valley High School in Pleasant View, WV in 1954. He met his wife, Peggy Janice Davis, in 1956 and married her on July 19, 1958 at the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Huntington, WV. Cliff received an academic and athletic scholarship to Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He graduated with a BSEE and MEE in 1961. During his undergraduate work, Cliff co-oped at Appalachian Power in Huntington, WV. At GT, Cliff lettered in track, was in Sigma Chi fraternity, and was in the Army ROTC as a Lieutenant Colonel. At Fort Belvoir, VA, he received the Top Cadet award. Cliff received an honorable discharge in 1959. Cliff's favorite hangout while at GT was The Varsity where he ordered sliders and a PC. He started his engineering career with DuPont Belle Plant in WV. Cliff joined the Jaycees and was President of the Charleston, WV chapter. Cliff continued his education by receiving a MBA from West Virginia University and acquired the Professional Engineer designation. He was a Mason in Madison, WV and initiated into the 32nd Scottish Rite in Charleston, WV. Cliff transferred to the East Chicago, IN DuPont facility in 1971. Cliff and Peggy became actively involved in the Crown Point Republican Party and the First United Methodist Church. After 14 years, he relocated with DuPont to Asheboro, NC and presided over the Healing Springs Denton facility. Cliff enjoyed his involvement in the Republican Party, the First United Methodist Church and as a youth softball and basketball coach. The DuPont facility was sold to Georgia Pacific and Cliff continued as Plant Manager until his retirement in January 2006. Cliff was an avid hunter and fisherman. His freezer was generally stocked with venison, turkey and trout. He was a loyal and passionate fan of his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and held season football and basketball tickets for most of his life. If Cliff hadn't been an engineer, he could have easily become a stock broker due to his interest in watching the stock market. He was proud of being a prostate cancer survivor of 11 months and participated in the Relay for Life in 2012. Lastly and above all, Cliff loved his family, his friends, and his faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Lois Marline; son Timothy Jay; brother Jimmy; half-brother Greg and step mother Inez. Cliff is survived by his wife Peggy Janice Cremeans; daughters Shanda Rae Bedoian and husband Michael, Cassandra Kay Bombien and husband Derek, and Melanie Lynne Bartkow and husband Brett; and seven granddaughters Micayla Skye Bedoian, Cyrena Starr Bedoian, Brooke Angel Bombien, Paige Olivia Bombien, Presley Reese Bartkow, Lily Mae Bartkow and Susannah Lynne Bartkow. His sisters Phyllis Romine and husband Chuck, Diana Simpson; and, brothers Ronnie Cremeans and wife Naomi, Chris Cremeans and wife Karen. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 12 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Asheboro, NC and officiated by Rev. Susan Mitchell. The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Graveside service will be held at Boone Memorial Park in Madison, WV on Sunday December 16, 2012 at 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to either the First United Methodist Church -Asheboro NC or the American Cancer Society.
