Cleta Ragsdale Kearns, age 99, formerly of Asheboro died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mrs. Kearns was born in Asheboro on February 4, 1914 to Asbury and Bertha Trogdon Ragsdale. She retired from Acme McCrary after 45 years of service and was a member of Browers Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a focused and gracious lady who was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Kearns enjoyed flower gardening, working crossword puzzles and was known for her delicious pound cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur C. Kearns, sisters, Ethylene Charnock, Daisy Vestal and brother, Bernice Ragsdale.
She is survived by her sons, Neale Kearns and his wife Elaine of Asheboro, John W. Kearns and his wife Dean of Asheboro; grandchildren, Sandy Kearns, John Kearns, Brian Kearns and his wife April all of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Keegan, Easton and Paxton Kearns all of Asheboro; sister, Faedene Maness of Asheboro; brother, Delbert Ragsdale of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 23, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Browers Chapel United Methodist Church, 1030 Browers Chapel Road, Asheboro and other times at the home of John and Dean Kearns on Ragsdale Road, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at Browers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spaulding officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
