Claudine C. Bunch, 79, of Asheboro, died on March 18, 2008. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro and other times at the home of John Bunch, 510 E. Kivett St., Asheboro. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 300 S. Main St., Asheboro, with Pastor Mark Key and Rev. Barry Queen presiding, followed by a graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
Claudine is survived by her daughter, Ellen Bunch, of Seattle, Washington; four sons, John Bunch and his wife, Nancy J. Bunch, of Asheboro, Bobby Bunch of Asheboro, Ed Bunch and his wife, Nancy H. Bunch, of Asheboro, and Bill Bunch and his wife, Donna Bunch, of Chapel Hill; eleven grandchildren, Tommy Bunch, Kara B. Baria, Molly B. Lyons and her husband, Charlie Lyons, Jason Bunch, Rebekah B. Kingston and her husband, Chris Kingston, Natalie Bunch, Julia Bunch, Katie Bunch, Ashley Bunch, William Bunch, and Zoe Bunch; and one great-grandson, Casey Baria. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude E. Cox, her mother, Montie S. Cox, and her sister, Juanita C. Hedrick.
Claudine Stout Cox was born on June 3, 1928 in Randolph County, graduated from Asheboro High School in 1945, and graduated from the Womans College of the University of North Carolina (then known as W.C., now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) in 1949. She returned to Asheboro and married John C. Bunch in 1949. She taught special education classes in the Asheboro City Schools and taught adult education classes at Randolph Community College. She retired from teaching in 1990.
Claudine served her community as an active volunteer in several organizations throughout her adult life, including the Girls Scouts, Friends of the Library, First United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church, the Randolph Arts Guild, and the Randolph Cancer Center. Claudine was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she a member of the Christian Homemakers Sunday School Class and the Followers Circle. She was a member of the Reviewers Book Club and a former member of Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. The family expresses special appreciation to her many caregivers at Randolph Hospital, UNC Memorial Hospital, Carolina House of Asheboro, Hospice of Randolph County and Randolph Cancer Center.
