Clark Edward Tate, age 74, of Asheboro died Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Tate was born April 15, 1938 the son of Ernest Clark and Elizabeth Collins Tate.
Clark was a native of Toast, NC (near Mt. Airy) and a member of Grace Baptist Temple. He retired, after 27 years of service from Oliver Rubber and had most recently worked at Food Lion on Hwy. 49S. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed restoring old cars, woodworking and antiques.
He is survived by his wife: Ruby Gilliland Tate; daughter and her husband: Debbie and Charles King of Asheboro, NC; son and his wife: Curtis and Sonja Tate of Liberty, SC; Stepson and his wife: Brian and Debbie Davis of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter and her husband, Heather and Bobby Wood; granddaughter and her husband, Holly and P.J. Luther; grandchildren: Tiffany, Brittany and Clay Tate; Sarah and Joshua Davis; great grandchildren: Corey and Callie Wood; William Luther; and one brother and his wife : Carl and Pat Tate of Burlington, NC.
The family will receive friends Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM at Grace Baptist Temple Church, Old US Highway 220 South, Asheboro, NC and other times at his home. The funeral will follow 4:00 PM in the church with Rev. Marc Myers, Rev. Garland Hall and Rev. Nathan Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
