Clarice (Buffy) Brown Cox, age 84 of Raleigh died October 5, 2011. She was the widow of Everett T. Cox and the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Hill Brown. Mrs. Cox was a native of Asheboro, NC and had lived in Asheboro until moving to Raleigh in 1999. She graduated from Asheboro High School, in the class of 1944.
Mrs. Cox is a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro, affiliate member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was currently attending Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh.
She was retired from the Randolph County Board of Education.
Mrs. Cox is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ric and Toni Cox of Raleigh; grandson Jason Cox of Raleigh, granddaughter Cameron Bass (Jonathan) of Greenville, NC; two great grandchildren; and her twin brother Harris Brown (Lucille) of Asheboro. She is also survived by her very special friend, Ed McGrory, Sr. of Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held Saturday October 8, 2011 at 5 pm in the chapel of Renaissance Funeral Home, 7615 Six Forks Road, Raleigh with visitation to follow. Visitation services in Asheboro will be held at 2 pm Sunday October 9, 2011 at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., with graveside services to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
