Clara Cassett

Clara Pruett Cassett, age 84, formerly of Colony Rd., Asheboro died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation. A rosary service will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Father Christopher Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Cassett was a native of Randolph County, was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was past president of the Asheboro VFW and was employed with Sugg-Wright Photography for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe John Cassett and her sister, Frances Ray. Clara was an avid bowler. She is survived by her son, Myrix Webster Newman, Jr. of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Kenneth Newman and his wife Michele, Jason Newman, and Josh Newman and his wife Elizabeth "Liz" all of Asheboro, NC; great grandchildren, Kylie Newman, Genna Newman, and Aiden Newman all of Asheboro, NC; step great grandchild, Trista Hardis of Asheboro, NC; sisters, Patty Coble of Pleasant Garden, NC and Julia Ann Dempsey of Winston-Salem, NC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
