Claiborne "Cornell" Hunt

Claiborne "Cornell" Hunt, age 77, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Hunt was born in Durham, NC on April 14, 1940 to Clyde William and Lester Alderman Hunt. Cornell retired, after 25 years of service, from Duke University Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist. He was a member of West Bend United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Cornell was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Scott Hunt. Cornell was an avid big game hunter and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Ervin Hunt; daughters, Ashley Hunt Bernhard and husband John of Middleburg, FL and Teresa Hunt of Durham; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Clyde William "Billy" Hunt of Durham.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Service, 1105 Broad St., Durham with Rev. Kari L. Howard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The fmaily will also receive friends on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 5-6:00 pm at West Bend United Methodist Church, 1080 Albemarle Rd, Asheboro with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm.
