Charlie William York, age 93, of Seagrove and formerly of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at his home.
Mr. York was born in Asheboro on October 23, 1923 to William and MIttie Voncannon York. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was retired from Klopman Mills and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobby York. Charlie loved to travel, particularly to Texas and loved training his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Velma Jessup York; daughter, Linda Y. York of Asheboro; grandson, Brian Duane York; granddaughter, Julie Phillips; great grandson, Chase Hunt; step daughter, Clarissa Coeburn of Asheboro; step son, Kenneth Knight of Seattle, WA; step grandchildren, Laura Stines, James Langley; step great grandchildren, Andrew Stines, Michael Langley, Justin Langley; brother, William T. York, Jr. of Little River, SC.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at his home in Seagrove. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Christian Church, 5789 Antioch Church Rd., Seagrove with Rev. Brian Maness and Pastor Jim Honeycutt officiating. A private burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
