Charlie Allred, age 86, of Asheboro died Monday, April 13, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mr. Allred was born in Moore County on September 16, 1928 to James Herbert and Lizzie Bruce Allred. Charlie served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from United Brass Works after 34 years of service. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Presnell Allred, and brothers Clyde, Lester, Cecil, James Herbert, Jr., Sam, Frank, and Clinton. Charlie loved golf, watching sports, was an avid card player, and loved working outside on his lawn. He loved his family and they loved him.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Charlie's neighbors, especially Jeff and Carmen Baker, for their kindness and caring. Also, a special thanks to the staff of the V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury for their care and concern.
He is survived by his son, Andy Allred and wife Shirley of Liberty; daughter, Cindy Meador and husband Charlie of Amherst, VA; grandchildren, Kari A. Jones and husband Preston of Holly Springs, Lani Allred and Jonabeth Allred of Liberty; sister, Maylene English of High Falls; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shirley Russell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Allred officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
