Charles Thomas Williams, 89, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Brookdale Senior living in High Point.
Mr. Williams was born in Randolph County to Charles F. and Sally Williams. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was the N. C. State Archery Association's Instinctive Class Champion in 1961and 1962. He retired from the Department of Transportation with 42 years of service. He enjoyed going to P & J's Diner for breakfast for 20 plus years. He loved going to the N.C. mountains, making the hottest chow chow possible, listening to blue grass music and was a serious NASCAR fan.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy A. Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Carlisle and husband Scott of High Point. Granddaughter Jessica Burns and husband Mike of Bettendorf, Iowa. Great Grandchildren, Nora, Holden, Davis, Macky and Judith Burns. Step-grandson, Alex Carlisle and wife Michelle of Raleigh, sisters Nancy Williams and Elizabeth Harvey, both of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro on May 10 at 1 p.m. and funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church,2225 South Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27205 and Hospice of the Piedmont, Inc., 1803 Westchester Dr., High Point, NC 27262.
