Charles Edward Morris, age 63, of 111 Charlottes Circle, Troy died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home.Mr. Morris was born February 28, 1946 in Montgomery County, the son of Freeman and Myrtle (Morton) Morris. Charles was a 26 year employee of Allied Waste (formerly Burgess & Maness Garbage Service). Billy Maness, General Manager of Allied Waste, said of Charles, "He was like family to us all. You couldn't find a better person; he set the mark high for us all to follow." Charles earned the safety award each and every year at Allied. One of Charles's favorite pastimes was fishing, he loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his father, Freeman Morris.In addition to his mother, Myrtle Morton Morris of Franklinville, he is survived by his wife: Jimmie Lou Forrester Morris of the home; two sons: Charles E. "Charlie" Morris, Jr. and wife, Tanya of Asheboro, Todd Morris also of Asheboro; two sisters: Shelby Jean Poole and Cinda M Roberts, both of Troy; one brother: William T. "Bill" Morris and wife, Wendy of Franklinville; one stepdaughter: Anna Christine Morris and husband, David of Blaine; one stepson: Kenneth M. Wilson and wife, Beth of M. Gilead; 3 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren.The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Troy; other times at the home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at Uwharrie United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 109 N., Troy with Rev. Jack Luther and Rev. Don Jarrell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the church of your choice.
