Charles Reid Hallyburton

Charles Reid Hallyburton, age 94, of 648 Hallyburton Road, Mt. Gilead died Monday, June 14, 2010 at his home. . Mr. Hallyburton was born March 23, 1916 in Burke County, NC, the son of Charlie Hunter and Fannie (Simpson) Hallyburton. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a former night watchman for McRae Shoe and a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Smith Hallyburton. He is survived by two daughters: Carol H. Saunders of Troy, Linda H. Shaver of Mt. Gilead; one son: Bill Hallyburton of Mt. Gilead; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Laura Scruggs of Huntersville. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 pm - 8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1715 Pleasant Grove Church Rd., Mt. Gilead, with Rev. Bill Turnmire officiating.
