Charles Glass, Sr.

Charles Glass, Sr. affectionately known as Charlie and Pa., age 88, of Asheboro died Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Glass was born in Surry County on November 6, 1927 to Charlie N. and Leliar Johnson Glass. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Balfour Baptist church. Mr. Glass was the former co-owner of Glass & Byrd Builders for 45 years and enjoyed woodworking in his shop in later years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Glass was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Glass and granddaughter, Jill Glass. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mona Dell Byrd Glass; sons, Gary Glass and wife Debbie, Charlie Glass, Jr. and wife Denise, Jeff Glass and wife Terry all of Asheboro; daughter, Kimberly Pendry and husband David of Asheboro; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Neal of SC; brothers, Jim Glass of Wilmington and Tom Glass of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Ray Lambe officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
