Charles Wesley "PaPaw" Brown, age 83, of 1195 Pineview Rd., Randleman died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at North Pointe Assisted Living Community, Randleman.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Jarrett and Rev. Bud Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Brown was born on February 9, 1927 in South Portsmouth, KY to Charles Arthur and Lillie Margarete Cooper Brown. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and attended Flag Springs United Methodist Church. Charlie was the former owner and operator of Charlie Brown's Tin Shop and did sheet metal work for 60+ years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lanier Brown, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Jane Graves and her husband Bob of Asheboro, NC, Debbie Strider and her husband Billy of Asheboro, NC, Sharon Owens and her husband Asa of Asheboro, NC, and Rita Dixon and her husband Mark of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Donald Graves of Asheboro, NC, Tisha Keifer of Asheboro, NC, Michele Tate of Denton, NC; Meredith Cagle of Troy, NC, Ryan Smith of Asheboro, NC, Miles Dixon of Ramseur, NC, and Tyler Dixon of Asheboro, NC; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister: Juanita McCready of Pasadena, MD; and brother, Ercel "E.P." Brown of Westminster, MD.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
