Mr. Charles Emerson Bray, 73, of Greensboro, passed away January 17, 2015, at Wesley Long Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, 21st , 2015 at Morehead United Methodist Church, Horse Penn Creek Road, Greensboro, NC. Friends will be received following the service in the fellowship hall of the Church. The services will be conducted by Rev. AJ Thomas and Rev. Michael Klepacki. Burial will be prior to the funeral service at Patterson Grove Christian Church, 1921 Patterson Grove Road, Ramseur , NC at 10:30, Wednesday 21st, 2015 am. Rev. Steve House and Rev. Michael Klepacki officiating. Mr. Bray was born June 29, 1941 in Grundy, Va., to the late Charles Crockett and Hattie June Mullins Bray. He graduated from Grimsley High School,(Greensboro Senior High School) Greensboro, NC and attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. Mr. Bray received the Jack H. Brown Memorial Award in recognition of unselfish participation and efforts, which exemplified exceptional community service. In 2002 he received a testimonial of sincere appreciation for service and dedication to the Greensboro Regional Realtors Association Board of Directors. He served on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Common Thread for the Cure, a furnishings industry breast cancer foundation. A commercial realtor, he was principal owner of Bray Sales Agency managing a number of properties including Guilford Village and South Forty. One of Charlie's greatest enjoyments was fishing and it did not matter if it was a frog pond or saltwater. He loved and appreciated animals, especially dogs, and in particular Golden Retrievers. Maybe his proudest award was a NC Saltwater Fishing Citation for catching a 68 pound Wahoo in 1991. Another enjoyment was his time spent at the New Garden Moose Lodge with his many friends and card playing buddies. He was also a lifetime member of the Greensboro Elks Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Suzann Burkhead Bray of the home, daughter, Angela Bray Peer of South Carolina, Grandson Brayson Keith Peer (Jen) and great granddaughter Alivia. Sisters, Barbara Angel Glenn of Charleston, SC and Madeleine Bray Smith of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his parents, son Christopher Emerson Bray and Stepfather Jack B. Angel. Honorary Pallbearers are: Robert (Bob) Hall, Jerry Jones, Lacy Hight, Brayson Peer, Scott Burkhead and Jerry Cook.
