Charlcie Bonkemeyer Whatley

Charlcie Ethelyn Bonkemeyer Whatley, age 88, of Randleman passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Whatley was born in Randleman, NC on March 19, 1931 to Angus and Nonnie Scott Bonkemeyer. She was employed as a Registered Nurse for over 47 years and was retired from Randolph Hospital. Charlcie was a member of Giles Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Charlcie was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde "Gene" Whatley and son-in-law, Bobby Norris. Charlcie was a very caring, humble, and loving Christian lady who always put others first. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charlcie enjoyed gardening and growing flowers and loved all animals.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane W. Norris of Asheboro; sons, Dean Whatley and wife Sara of Asheboro, Danny Whatley and wife Wendy of Randleman, Doyle Whatley and wife Amanda of Sophia, and Don Whatley of Randleman; 13 grandchildren;11 great grandchildren; brothers, Willis Bonkemeyer and wife Martha Jane of Randleman, and Lewis Bonkemeyer and wife Kathy of Randleman; and her special cat, Valentine.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
