Cecil Thomas Smith, 81, of TerraBella in Asheboro, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2024.
He was born to Drew and Marianna Smith on June 25, 1943. Cecil served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, from 1967 to 1968, in the 242nd Weapons Repair and Supply division.
He was a former member of the Mason Lodge #699 and the Randolph Shrine Club.
Cecil worked as a self-employed shoe repairman and plumber for several years and was later employed for ten years at Pinewood Country Club, where he retired in 2005. He had many friends there, including his soulmate, Dianne, who survives him.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Quenelle Campbell, Rachel Skeen, Alene Patton, and Mozelle Walker, and his brothers, Carl Smith, Herbert Smith, and J.R. Smith.
Surviving are his sister, Mae Hill of Sophia; his sons, Nathan Smith (Heather) of Greensboro, N.C., and Derrick Smith (Tina) of Supply, N.C.; stepdaughters, Anita Presnell (Dean) of Denton and Teena Kennedy (Pat) of Denton; and grandchildren, Kai Smith of Greensboro, Jordan and Kailee Presnell of Raleigh, and Lenzie and Colby Kennedy of Denton. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Cecil was known for his warm smile, kind words, and helping hand for others.
Before his health declined, he attended High Pine Wesleyan Church, where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School class. He loved the Lord and was a faithful witness to others.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp and Pastor Arnold Luther.
