Cecil Richard "Poochie" Weeks, age 61, of 1467 Grantville Lane, Asheboro died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Weeks was a native of Asheboro and was raised in Morehead City. He was formerly employed as a 1st class highline lineman at Dick Weeks Construction, worked for the NC Department of Transportation and was retired from the City of Asheboro. Poochie was a former volunteer fireman in Morehead City, a former member of GWRRA and a former Mason, earning his 32nd degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Cherry and H. A. "Dick" Weeks. Poochie enjoyed classic cars, motorcycles, fishing and boating. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia F. "Patty" Weeks; son, Richie Weeks of Asheboro; daughters, Angie Hughes Voncannon of Asheboro, Janie Marie Fleming of Morehead City, Elizabeth Ann Davis of Morehead City, Rebecca Lynn Bibby of Myrtle Beach, SC; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 6-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, other times at his home.
