Catherine Cranford Fritz

Catherine "Cat" Cranford Fritz, age 92, of 597 Lexington Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Holder and Rev. George Roberson officiating. A private burial will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Fritz was a native of Randolph County and was the retired owner and operator of Eva Frye's, Inc. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Cat was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jacob Luther Fritz, and her sons, Jacob Luther Fritz, Jr. and Robert V. Fritz. She is survived by her daughters, Emily Fritz Lage and Cookie Fritz Smith both of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Jim Smith of Asheboro, NC, LTC Steve Smith of Ft. Bragg, NC, Cathy Smith Napier of Trinity, NC, Richard Lage of Boca Raton, FL, Analisa Lage Herring of Charlottesville, VA, Ginger Lage Hendricks of Midlothian, VA, and Dessa Fritz Morris of Monroe, GA; 11 great grandchildren; and sister, Hilda Cranford Rose of Tampa, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or the Randolph County Library, 210 Worth St., Asheboro, NC 27203.
