Cassandra Swinhoe Church, age 93, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Randolph Health.
Mrs. Church was born in Clairton, PA on October 24, 1923 to Arthur Hazen and Sadie Salee Swinhoe.
Cassandra Swinhoe Church led an illustrious and adventure-filled life. From being a missionary in southeast Africa, to helping people with orthopedic problems as well as their families as a social worker at UVA Hospital, to creating works of art through quilting. She was an avid sports enthusiast of every level and type of athletics but she was a true fan of the Washington Redskins, the Baltimore Orioles, and any Pittsburgh sports team. She lived life to the fullest and enriched everyone's life she touched. She reveled in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as she treasured her friends, family, and her faith. She will be missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacquelyn Betts and husband Dr. Charles Betts of Asheboro, NC and Judith Rosenberg of Charlottesville, VA; son, Alan Church and wife Cindy of Key West, FL; grandchildren, Bryson Randolph Betts and wife Courtney of Greensboro, Robin Betts Jackson and husband Matthew, Sean Alan Church of Philippines, Audrey Green of Key West, FL, Caryl Church of Painesville, OH, Robert Church and wife Megan of Canton, OH, Katherine Rand and husband Nicholas of Newbury, MA, and Elizabeth Rosenburg and husband Erik Heffernan; great grandchildren, Grayson Betts, Aleigha Green, Allegra Green, Elija Green, Zyaire Allen, Madison Church, Mickey Church, Charlotte Church, Liam Rand, Tristan Rand, and Vera Rand; and nieces, Wilma Furlong of Allenport, PA and Sandra Lambert of San Diego, CA.
In addition to her parents, Cassandra was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary Jewel Lundy, and her brother, Arthur Hazen Swinhoe.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Lynda Ferguson and Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating.
