Carolyn Aycock Burt Prevo, age 66, of Asheboro died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House.
Born in Wilson, NC, Ms. Prevo was a native of Raleigh and Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Millard P. Burt. A 1966 graduate of Fayetteville High School, she earned her undergraduate degree at UNC-G and her Master's degree from UNC-CH. Ms. Prevo taught English and was the yearbook advisor at Randleman High School for 25 years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for the past 46 years where she taught the youth and adult Sunday School classes. She was also a member of the handbell choir, wind ensemble and the On Mission Team. Ms. Prevo enjoyed international travel and shared many of these experiences with her students. She also served as a Girl Scout leader with her daughters at St. John's Episcopal Church. Ms. Prevo was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher who touched many lives through the years.
She is survived by her mother, Beulah Aycock Burt of Asheboro; daughters, Amy Fisher Russell of Wilmington, Gayle Fisher Parker and husband Mike of Winston-Salem, Meg Fisher Riddle and husband Jim of High Point; grandchildren, Seth, Hailey, Will, Justin, Savannah, Kate and Luke; brother, Charles Aycock Burt of Wendell; and beloved nieces and nephew.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro with Rev. Mark Hall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to The On Mission Team of First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
