Benson

Carolyn Virginia Hodge McClellan, age 83 of Benson NC, passed away peacefully at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Benson, on March 2,2025.

Carolyn was born in Albemarle, NC to the late John Earnest Hodge and the late Lillian Marie Crenshaw Hodge. She was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Wingate College and graduated from Southeastern Cosmetology School. She was a hairdresser by trade but became a homemaker after her three children were born which was her favorite profession. Carolyn never met a stranger and one of her best attributes was her relatability to others. She was a great conversationalist but will always be remembered for her great sense of humor. She was very artistic and loved sewing and crafts. She had a green thumb and loved her flowers and plants and making things grow, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and was always ready to brag about them to anyone who would listen.

Carolyn is survived by her children: Bryan McClellan (Caraline) of Arkansas, Darren McClellan (Ronda) of Concord, NC, and Barri Martin (Scott) of Willow Spring, NC; grandchildren: Grace Martin Williamson (Matthew) of Raleigh, Lily Martin of Willow Spring, Hailey McClellan of Concord, Bryson McClellan of Bentonville, AR, and Cooper McClellan of Bentonville, AR; siblings: John E. Hodge (Stephanie) of Charlotte, NC, Debby Barden of Troy, NC, and Claude H. Hodge of Spartanburg, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Nathan Scott Martin.

A Memorial Service will be held at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC on Saturday, April 19,2025, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Roger Korsten officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in Troy.
