Carolyn Shepard Chisholm

Carolyn Shepard Chisholm, age 83, of Asheboro, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur, Ramseur, NC. Mrs. Chisholm was born November 24, 1933 the daughter of George Edward and Mary Louise Hoffmann Shepard. Carolyn was a native of Chapel Hill, NC and a retired teacher, having taught in Asheboro City and Randolph County schools. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheboro where she served as elder, Sunday School teacher/superintendent, moderator, and a life member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a founding member of Habitat for Humanity of Randolph County, a board member of the Randolph County Mental Health Association and a Reviewer's Book Club member. She volunteered with the CUOC, Meals-on-Wheels, Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen, as well as with, Clapp's Nursing Home and Shepherd's Way Day care. She received the Good Samaritan Award from the Randolph Rotary Club in 2001 and the 2009 Older Adult Award from First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald Reid Chisholm She is survived by: one son and his wife: Reid Chisholm. and Juli Kim of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren: Hannah and Jake Chisholm; one brother: George E. Shepard, Jr.; and nephews: Adam and Erik Shepherd. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
