Carol Blalock Parsons

Carol Blalock Parsons, age 73, of 516 Wooley Street, Troy, retired to 481 Sugar Loaf Road, Troy died Friday, February 3, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. Mrs. Parsons was born September 13, 1938 at Troy, NC, the daughter of Robert Belton and Jewel Faulkenberry Blalock. She was an active member of First Wesleyan Church and a member of the Lake Tillery Shag Club. She was a graduate of Montgomery Community College. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Rose Blalock Carlyle and Dorothy Blalock Hurley. Carol owned and operated a beauty shop at her residence for many years. Following that she became an administrative assistant at the Montgomery County Health Department and later at the Hoke County Health Department. She was a retiree of the Hoke County Health Department. She was a lifetime member of the North Carolina Public Health Association. Carol enjoyed sewing and spending time at the beach and lake. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a faithful friend to many. She will be missed greatly. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Allan Thomas "June" Parsons, Jr. of the home; children: Sharon Parsons Pigford and husband, Boyce of Troy, Gail Parsons Saunders and husband, Jamey of Troy, Tracy Parsons and wife, Julie of Troy, Kasey Parsons Batten and husband, Ricky of Troy; two sisters; Betty Blalock McRae of Rockingham, Jo Ann Blalock Nooe of Troy; one brother: Farrell Blalock of Charlotte; grandchildren: Grant and Sabrina Gooch and children, Savannah and Grayson, Laurie Elam Lamonds and children Aidan and Asheton, Kerri and Adrian Blue and children, Klay and Olivia, Todd Elam, Justin Saunders, Samantha Parsons, Thomas Yarboro, Alec Parsons, Nicholas "Nick" Batten, Kameron Batten; step-grandson: Daniel Batten; step-granddaughter: Lisa Johnson. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Hwy 134 N, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 pm at First Wesleyan Church with Rev. Douglas Mullins and Rev. Ed Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
