Carol Cox Smith

Carol Cox Smith, age 94, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in Wilkesboro. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 am at Randolph Memorial Park, 4538 US Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Mrs. Smith was born in Ramseur on March 22, 1919 to Stephen and Eva Stout Cox. She was formerly employed with Rose's Department Store and was a member of Balfour Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Haynes Colon Smith of Asheboro and her beloved daughter, Caroline Smith Jones of Taylorsville, as well as her dear sisters, including Norma Grubb, and a beloved brother. She is survived by her son-in-law, Larry W. Jones of Taylorsville; granddaughter, Larissa (Jason) Erkman of Taylorsville; and grandsons, Todd W. Jones of Taylorsville and Brian (Katherine) Jones of Taylorsville. Carol is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Caroline, John and Nate Erkman; and Darby and Kent Jones, all of Taylorsville. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Smith family.
