Canary Scott Kearns

Canary Kearns, age 91, of Asheboro was welcomed into Heaven on February 8, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was a loving Christian wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, working in her rose garden, watching UNC Basketball, and caring for others. Canary was a native of Randolph County. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Canary was preceded in death by her parents John Milton Scott and Reba Richardson Scott, husband Julius Gilbert Kearns, son Julius William Kearns, grandson Derrick Brian Mooneyhan, and great-grand daughter Anna-Claire Brown and several siblings. She is survived by her children Dianne Bonkemeyer (Phil), Janet Mooneyhan (Jim), and Pat Hayes all of Asheboro. Grandchildren Julie Brown (Craig) of TN, Meredith Bonkemeyer, Chris Mooneyhan (Julie), Nicole Hayes and Courtney Hayes, all of Asheboro. Great-grandchildren Eli, Silas, and Chloe Brown of TN, Dawson and Calli Mooneyhan, and Madison Richardson all of Asheboro; sister Jewel Copple, and brother Lacy Scott. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday, February 10, 2013 and other times at the home. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday at Pugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Shepherd Methodist Church Cemetery. A special thanks to the staff of: Randolph Hospital, Universal Health Care of Ramseur, Hospice of Randolph, Dr. Robbins, and Dr. Dhatt .
