Canaan Gregory Downey

Canaan Gregory Downey, infant son of Kayla Thompson and Gregory Michael Downey of Denton, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Crystal and Tommy Smith of Denton; maternal great-grandparents, Kay and Tommy Chappell of Troy; maternal great-great grandmother, Geraldine Dennis of Troy; paternal grandmother, Donna Cotter of Denton; paternal grandfather, Monty Downey of Denton; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Spencer of NY; paternal great-grandfather: Donald Cotter of NY; paternal great-great-grandmother, Leona Downey of NY. Canaan is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Tommy Thompson. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Lomax Memorial Baptist Church, Correll Rd., Troy one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be Saturday at 2:00 pm at Lomax Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chip Bryant officiating. Pugh-Troy Funeral Home is serving the Downey Family.
