Wayne Loflin, passed away at his home on August 13, 2013 after a period of declining health. He was born in the Edgar area of Sophia on September 28, 1927 to Alva E. and Ethel Davis Loflin. He lived in Sophia all his life except for duty in the US Army, when he was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco.
Wayne lovingly worked the dairy farm his father had established even after his retirement. He continued to help his son and grandson in an advisory capacity after he was no longer able to leave his home. He served on many farm-related boards and was on the board for the Sophia Fire Department from its inception until his death.
As President of the 1944 class of Randleman High School, he "shared" planning duties for the many reunions he so enjoyed. He loved airplanes and substitute airplanes (motorcycles) and rode many miles on his Goldwing. He also enjoyed antique farm equipment and working with his nephew Gary to refurbish a bulldozer.
Wayne was a lifelong member of Marlboro Friends Meeting where he was a trustee and served on many committees. He sang in the choir until he was 84 along with his wife. They were also members of the Marlboro Chorus and sang for many church and civic events in Randolph and the surrounding counties.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents: Alva and Ethel Davis Loflin; wife, Louise Webster Loflin; daughter, LuEllen Loflin Morgan; sisters, Iris Cashatt, Edith Wagoner, Virginia Parks and Treva Pearman.
He is survived by son: Clifford W. Loflin, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Sophia; daughter and her husband: Linda L. and Roger Thuotte of Hillsborough, NC; son-in-law, Mark Morgan of Sophia; grandchildren, Laura Thuotte Bibb and her husband Ben, Daniel Loflin, Rachel Loflin Maguire and her husband Chris, Greg Thuotte, Madelyn Morgan and Wyatt Morgan; great grandson, Luke Bibb.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Marlboro Friends Meeting, 2668 Marlboro Church Rd., Sophia with Rev. Ricky Sessoms officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held in the Sunday School wing after the services.
