Boyd Russell Essick

Boyd Russell Essick, age 70, of Sophia died Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Mr. Essick was a native of Davidson County and a Navy veteran. He was the owner and operator of Essick's Grading and Backhoe Service. He worked construction his whole life and battled cancer for the past 7 years. Boyd was an avid hunter and fisherman. The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Murinson for his expertise, caring and compassion, his nurse Robin and all the staff at Wesley Long Cancer Center and Hospice of Randolph County, you are all very special people. Mr. Essick is preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Mary Dorsett Essick , sisters, Ruby, Lillian and Elaine; twin brother, Bruce. He is survived by his wife: Nancy Harris Essick of the home; sons: Russ (Karla) Essick and Bill Essick of Sophia; daughter, Tammy (Gary) Michael of Lexington; sister: Doris (Roby) Hedrick of Lexington and brothers: Garland (Mildred) Essick of Lexington, and William (Sharon) Essick of MD; grandsons, Brent, Bradley, Brandon And Brody; great grandchild, Liam. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 4, 2009 from 2:00-4:00PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Randall Macon officiating.
