Blaine S Ward of Asheboro, died peacefully on August 30, 2024 at the William Dunlap Hospice House in Raleigh.
Mr Ward was a native of Ramseur, born on May 14, 1935 to Hardy C and Laura Yow Ward. After graduating from the University of North Carolina in 1957, he returned to Randolph County, eventually settling in Asheboro with his wife, Mary Ann. He worked as an employee of First National Bank for almost four decades, leaving a legacy of integrity, kindness and commitment to the community. He served his country as an Army reservist, and he was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church. In retirement, he joined the Golden K, served on the board of Regional Consolidated Services, and spent his time volunteering to continue to support the community. In addition to the love he shared with his family, he also loved American Legion baseball, UNC athletics, movies and various styles of music.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (nee, Bullock), formerly of Kannapolis, NC, as well as sisters Louise, Maxine, Rachel and Grace and brothers Hayden and Gordon. He will be lovingly remembered by his son David and wife Karen Ward of Silver Spring, MD, daughter Martha and husband Danny Brown of Selma, NC, grandchildren Cullen Brown, Aislinn-Anne Brown, and Andrew Ward, brother Paul Ward and his wife Branda, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family is planning a Visitation at Pugh Funeral Home on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 10:30 am with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating and with burial services at Oaklawn Cemetery afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial donations be directed to First United Methodist Church, 224, North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or Transitions LifeCare, 230 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
