Billy Sherman Harrelson, age 78, of 1459 River Run Dr., Asheboro died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Chrisco officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Harrelson was a native of Randolph County, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and attended Cedar Falls Baptist Church. After retiring from Jockey International, he was the owner/operator of North Asheboro Lock and Key. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Loflin, Rebecca Raymond, and Charlotte Earl. Billy enjoyed unlocking doors, cars, putting locks on, helping others, and playing the guitar and singing. Up until the time of his death, Billy enjoyed spending time with his great granddaughters who were the love and joy of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy H. Harrelson of the home; daughter, Phyllis Haithcock Clark and her husband George E. Clark of Seagrove, NC; granddaughter, Hope H. Baxter and her husband Tony Baxter of Denton, NC; great granddaughters, Brooke S. Baxter and Kendall M. Baxter both of Denton, NC; brothers, Charlie Harrelson of Seagrove, NC and Gurney Harrelson of Star, NC; and twin brother, Bobby Russell Harrelson of Randleman, NC.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Hope Baxter, 5837 Hwy. 49 South, Denton, NC.
