Bill Lemons

Charles William "Bill" Lemons, age 91, of Troy died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at his home. Mr. Lemons was born December 22, 1916 in Montgomery County, NC, the son of the late James and the late Mattie (Burke) Lemons. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Troy High School, attended Lees-McRae College and was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was owner and operator of the Stop and Shop Grocery Store for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Nell Smitherman Lemons; his brothers, Junie Lemons, Ed Lemons, Harrell Lemons, Bob Lemons and Moody Lemons; sisters, Grace Thayer, Sara Brittian, Taff Harris and Louise Arthur. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary L. Smitherman and fifteen nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday in the church fellowship hall from 2-3 pm. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy with Rev. Bobby Tyson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Troy.
