Bill Joyce

Willie Calvin "Bill" Joyce, age 88, of Asheboro died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Mr. Joyce was born October 25, 1925 in Westfield, NC to Silas and Annie Joyce. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received two bronze stars for being held as a prisoner of war. Mr. Joyce was retired from Guilford Mills in Greensboro. In addition to his parents, Mr. Joyce was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Cave Joyce, son, Tommy Michael Joyce and several siblings. He is survived by daughter, Susan J. Watson and husband Bret of Salisbury; grandson, Terry Michael Joyce of Denton; sisters, Sarah Oliver of Asheboro, Patsy Brown of Asheboro, Jeral Purvis of Asheboro and brother, Charles Ray Joyce of Seagrove. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro with Rev. L. D. Pritchard officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
