William Clyde "Bill" Craven, Jr, age 79, of Asheboro died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Perry Brown officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
Mr. Craven was a native of Franklinville and graduated from Guilford College in 1953. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of Franklinville United Methodist Church. Mr. Craven was retired from Met Life and was inducted into the Met Life Manager's Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Southern Prince Georges Rotary Club in Maryland and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Craven was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Mabel Ridge Craven and his sister and brother-in-law, Martha C. and John R. Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Lou Kearns Craven; daughters, Amy L. Craven of Greensboro, NC, Joanna C. Becke and her husband Alan of Greensboro, MD; grandchildren, Jesse Becke who is stationed at Norfolk Naval Base and Katie Becke of Baltimore, MD; sister, Edith Keen and her husband Louis of Asheboro; 1 nephew, 4 nieces and their families.
The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
