Biji Rattan Kaur passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30th, 2015 in her Asheboro home. Biji, which translates to "most beloved mother", was just that to all who knew her. Biji had a beautiful spirit, a generous heart and was an example of the best of God's creatures. She told wonderful jokes, loved to sing and made us laugh often. She was undeniably true to herself. Biji remained ever faithful to her Maker and to her husband, Sardar Amar Singh, who predeceased her 43 years ago. Her sons, Surinder Singh (Harjinder Kaur) and Iqbal Singh (Sulukhshana Kaur) and a grandson, Tarun Singh, also predeceased her.
She is survived by her sons, Gulzar Singh (Rajinder Kaur), Sukhdev Singh (Neena) and her daughters, Jagdish Kaur (Yashpal Singh), Kulwant Kaur (Dr. Hanspal) and Jasbir Kaur (Raj). Her 17 grandchildren and her 19 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way) filled Biji's life with love and laughter.
Biji survived as long as she did in most part due to the love and support she received from her best friend, Evelyn Rodman. We all owe Evelyn a great of debt of gratitude for her genuine affection for Biji. Further, Ferriest, Biji's dear sweet friend, also provided years of love and devotion. Biji was truly cared for in a way reserved for only the most precious of souls. Our beloved mother will be missed but the grace with which she lived her life will resonate with us for the rest of our days.
