Bickett Ward

James Bickett Ward, age 97, formerly of Ward Valley Rd., Asheboro, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro. Mr. Ward was born September 17, 1916 in Ramseur, NC to James Ernest and Maie Yow Ward. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and was a proud participant of the 2010 Flight of Honor. He was a member of Central Falls Baptist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Poole Ward and three sister, Jacksie Long, Gladys Leonard and Annie Mae Quantz and a brother: John Ward. He is survived by daughters: Louise Hogan and her husband, Leslie of Denton, NC, Elaine Hunt and her husband Donald of Randleman, NC; sons: Alvin Ward and his wife, Cathy of Franklinville, Bill Ward and his wife Doris of Asheboro, and Danny Ward and his wife Shirley of Randleman, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. The family will receive friends Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Central Falls Baptist Church, 1332 Old Liberty Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Gerald Hussey and Rev. Clay Davis officiating.
