Betty Sue Delk Whitley, age 73, of Denton died Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Whitley was born June 20, 1939 in Davidson County to Ralph Lee and Edith Hunt Rogers. She attended Denton High School and was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Whitley was formerly employed with Acme McCrary and was secretary for Alton J. Delk Construction. She enjoyed decorating and being outdoors, especially at her pool and at the beach. Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by her first husband, Alton J. Delk.
She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Whitley; daughter, Kay Delk-Keziah and her husband Les of Denton; son Kenneth J. Delk and his wife Amanda of Trinity; grandchildren, Sarah Delk and Jay Delk; sister, Janet Allen of Trinity; brothers, Houston Rogers of Asheboro, Don Rogers of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at the home of Kenneth J. Delk. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:00 am at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 7594 Jackson Creek Rd., Denton with Rev. Benny Clodfelter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
