Betty Beaman Russell

Betty Beaman Russell, age 78, of 517 Oak St., Troy died Monday, July 7, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Mrs. Russell was born June 9, 1930 at Troy, NC, the daughter of the late Carl Howard and the late Grace (Nordan) Beaman. Betty was a life-long member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was an active member as long as her health permitted. She served as Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School director, church historian and a member of the adult choir. She was a 1948 graduate of Troy High School. She attended King's Business College in Greensboro and retired from the NC Dept of Bridge Maintenance. Betty loved to crochet and any other type of craft work plus she was a wonderful cook. For many years she catered various meals in the community. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Reginald Russell. She is survived by one daughter: Robin Beaman Tysinger of Lexington; three sons: Jimmy Russell of Greensboro, Charles R. Russell of Asheboro, Randy Russell of Franklinton; three sisters: Judy B. Fields of Lexington, Peggy B. Russell and Linda B. Sedberry, both of Troy; one brother: Max Beaman of Albemarle; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 412 Bell Street, Troy; other times at the home. A private burial will be held.
