Betty Lou Rumley Parsons, age 74, Troy passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Mrs. Parsons was born in Richmond County on January 4, 1943. She was employed in the textile industry for over 20 years and was of the Baptist faith. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Wayne Parsons, mother, Gladys K. Blankenship, father, Clifton Rumley, step father, Thomas Blankenship, sisters, JoAnn Williams, Dottie Meacham, brother, Steve Blankenship, and grandson, Christopher Holder. Betty loved the Carolina Panthers, enjoyed coloring, puzzle books, and crocheting. She enjoyed NASCAR racing and her favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Tony Wilson and wife Claire of Pittsboro; daughter, Pamela Owens and husband Dempsey, Jr. of Star; granddaughters, Miranda Owens of Star and Courtney Wilson of Pittsboro; and brothers, Tommy Blankenship of Troy and Wally Blankenship of Mt. Gilead; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 11:00-11:45 am at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Pope officiating. Burial will be in the Parsons Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
