Betty Rose Nelson, age 85, died peacefully at Randolph Hospital on Sunday, May 12, 2024 after a long battle with respiratory illness. Mrs. Nelson was born October 5, 1938 in Randolph County to John and Nora Rose.
Betty was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a friend to many people who loved her. Betty graduated from Seagrove High School in 1957. Many of her schoolmates still called and kept in touch with her. Betty was a member of Center Cross Baptist Church in Asheboro. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Arthur (Pete) Nelson and brother, Thomas Rose.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra Tate King and husband Charles B. King; son, Curtis Eric Tate and wife Sonja Allen Tate; step-daughter, Melesa Nelson Wright and husband Doug Wright; grandchildren, Heather King Wood and husband Bobby Wood, Holly King Luther and husband P. J. Luther, Tiffany Tate, Brittany Tate Sanders and husband Michael Sanders, Clay E. Tate; great grandchildren, Corey Wood and wife Megan Wood, Kallie Wood, Will Luther, Chloe Luther, Brantley Jenkins, Dalton Jenkins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Center Cross Baptist Church in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Scott Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
