Betty Lednum McPherson, age 90, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Randolph Hospice House. Mrs. McPherson was born in Staley on October 22, 1930 to Bill and Rena Langley Lednum. Betty was a homemaker and devoted to childcare, raising her children, as well as others. Betty was a kind-hearted lady with a sweet smile. She was family oriented and a praying woman who loved her Lord. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel "Sam" McPherson, sons, Darrell and Michael McPherson, brother, Hoover Lednum, and sisters, Christine Memory, Maxine Smith, Martha Lee Parks, and Edith Lednum. She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Sermon (Jonathan) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Eric McPherson (Karla) of Asheboro, Amy McPherson (Zeke Harris) of California, Ethan Sermon of Asheboro, Kelly Siler (Judy) of Montana, Josh Siler of Asheboro, Zach Siler of Wyoming; great grandchildren, Kylie McPherson of Asheboro, Kaiden McPherson of Asheboro, Kinsley McPherson of Asheboro, Michael McKelligott of Montana, Garret Siler of Montana; daughters-in-law, Elaine McPherson of Asheboro and Pat Siler (Ed) of Montana; and brothers, Winfred "Joe" Lednum and Frank Lednum, Mrs. McPherson's body will lie in repose on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Due to COVID-19, a private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
