Betty Jean "Becky" Bowman, 79, of Siler City, died Monday, February 9, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
She was a Randolph County native having been born March 30, 1935 in Worthville. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Dolphus Bowman, Sr. and Stella Chandler Bowman. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Lora Adele Bowman, Elizabeth Sue Bowman and brothers, James R. Bowman, Robert G. Bowman, A.C. "Bunnie" Bowman, and a beloved niece Bonnie Gail Beane.
Survivors are brothers, William D. Bowman, Jr of Pleasant Garden, Lewis L. Bowman and wife Sue of Randleman, and sisters, Marie B. Lowe of Snellville, Ga and Patsy B. Dabbs of Siler City. She is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews, and 3 precious dogs, Ellie, Bythee, and Bonnie.
Becky was a graduate of Asheboro High School and a honor graduate of Appalachian State University. She retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools after 32 years as a librarian. She had an avid interest in genealogy and local history, and published several books.
