Betty Lou Spivey James, age 81, of Asheboro died Monday, September 7, 2015, at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Mrs. James was born in Robbins on September 14, 1933 to Ernest and Tessie Morgan Spivey. She was formerly employed in the textile industry. After becoming a nurse, Betty was employed mostly in Industrial Nursing, and, after 12 years retired from American Cotton Growers in Littlefield, TX. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Daniel "Dan" James, Sr., and sister Marsha Spivey Cates. Betty retired to Cherry Grove Beach in South Carolina and had moved back to Asheboro to be close to her family.
She is survived by three daughters: Danette (Ricky) Fitch of Graham, NC, Vickie (Bill) DeBari of Randleman, NC, Kim (Walter) Gillespie of Danville, VA and two sons: Fred James, Jr. (Loretta) of Greer, SC, Kyle (Heidi) James of Lake Charles, LA; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and sister: Jettie York Payne of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2015, from 1:00 - 1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC., and following the inurnment there will be a visitation at the home of Vickie DeBari, 5671 Maple Run Drive, Randleman, NC.
A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tim Pheagin officiating

Inurnment will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
