Betty Hawkins Green, age 64, of Troy died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.
Betty was born November 20, 1949 at Kinston, NC the daughter of George Everett and Betty Eleanor Nichols Hawkins Curry. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was a former accounts receivables clerk at McRae Industries. Betty loved gardening and feeding her birds. Going to yard sales every Saturday was one of the many ways she enjoyed spending time with her husband.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Rev. George Hawkins and a brother, Christopher Hawkins.
In addition to her mother, Eleanor Hawkins Curry of Troy, she is survived by her husband of forty-five years: Gilbert Green of the home; one daughter: Shannon Green McNeill and husband, Jerry Wayne of Biscoe; one granddaughter: Mandy McNeill and companion, Justin Georgepul; one grandson: Jered Wayne McNeill; three great-grandsons: Gavin Georgepul, Brycen Lee Georgepul and Brendon Georgepul; one sister: Pam Hawkins Luton of Albemarle, and four brothers: Mark Hawkins of Monroe, Daniel Hawkins and Joseph Hawkins, both of Troy, Benjamin Hawkins of Charlotte.
A time to celebrate Betty's life will be Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy with Rev. Mark Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service; other times at the home.
