Betty Cripps Harris, age 91, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Harris was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on March 14, 1926 to George and Cora Williams Cripps. As a child, she lived in Manhattan, NY and remembered seeing the Hindenburg and the Queen Mary. She was a graduate of Fayetteville Street School and a member of Flag Springs United Methodist Church. Betty was formerly employed with Burlington Industries-Cetwick Plant and retired from Rampon Products. After retirement, she worked with Becky's of Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles Ross "Rawhide" Harris. Her passion was showing her horses and working on their farm with Ross. Betty enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Robbins and husband Roger, Gail McDowell and husband Tony and Linda Harris and fiancé Joe Spencer, all of Asheboro; son, Farrell Harris and wife Cheran of Asheboro; grandchildren, Derek Robbins and wife Teresa, Jackson Vick, Ross Lee Harris, Max Harris, Andrea Heverly and husband Wayne; great grandchildren, Braxton Vick, Keaton Weatherly, Benjamin Harris, Carter Harris, Ryan Heverly, Laura Mann and husband Kelyn, Elizabeth Coffman and husband J.D., Kyle Robbins, and Thomas Robbins; great great grandchild, Brody Mann.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Flag Springs United Methodist Church, 5852 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro. Funeral services will be follow on Friday at 2:00 pm at Flag Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Hunter and Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
