Betty Mickey Cook of Clapps Nursing Home, formerly of Walker Store Road, Franklinville passed Saturday January 20. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Cook.
Mom was a wonderful mother, a homemaker, and she loved to cook. Her children always came first. She was a member of Whites Memorial Baptist Church. In her younger years, she was such a fun mom. We played at Cook's beach (our back yard). Many other kids would come and she would be out there in the middle of us. Her home was a place of refuge. Anyone who was having problems were always welcome at her home. Our mom and dad tried to be a haven for all. They loved all of our friends.
Leaving to cherish her memories, and there were many memories, is Chris Cook of Smithfield, Bonnie Cook Shackelford of Clayton and Vickie Cook of Franklinville. Her grandchildren are Adam Shackelford of Wilmington, Andy (Amy) Hester of Carolina Beach, Mary (Jason) Gilbert of Castle Hayne, and Mikki (Zee) Weaver of Weddington. Then, there's the great-grandchildren, Madeline and Olivia Hester, Nick and Zoe Gilbert, and Zee and Routh Weaver.
The Cook Family wants to express their love and appreciation to the staff of Clapps Nursing Home. The staff became members of our family for the past seven and a half years. They lovingly cared for our mom at times when we were unable to. Mom was so happy there.
Services will be held at Whites Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, January 27 at 3:00 pm. Sharing and food will take place immediately following in the fellowship hall.
Pugh Funeral Home will be assisting the Cook family. Condolences may be made through www.pughfuneralhome.com or vickiesblessings@gmail.com
